Google Homepage and Spotify!

Hello!! 🙂

I read on Google Blog a few days ago that you can change the look of your Google Homepage! 😀 Woooot!

You can choose from many different images, and no more white background when searching with Google!

Lookie at mine! Isn’t it beauuuutiful? ❤ ❤

To change yours as well, go to Google.com and at the lower left-hand corner, there should be a link to change the background image. 🙂 Then simply choose!

I didn’t really look at the options, as soon as I saw this, I “grabbed” it. 😀 So maybe later I’ll find out that there’s another one I like more. xD But I am satisfied with this one now. 🙂

Oh yes! And I like it a lot! 🙂  🙂

(What is it you say? You don’t know?? 😛 It’s a service/program that you download on your computer, and you can listen to songs that you like for free, as many times as you want, at any place/time that you want them! So, you are at work, and want to listen to music? No problem! 😀 (It doesn’t install, so it even works on office computers). You are at a friend’s house/party and want to play songs you like and show to your friends? No problem! :D)

It’s great that you can find many different songs even when you are not home and don’t have your PC or HDD with you (e.g. at work or at a friend’s house), and you can also share your playlists with friends! 🙂

If you live in Sweden, Spain, Norway, Finland (including the Åland Islands), France, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom, then you can have it totally for free! 😀

Or else you can get Spotify Open, that anybody from other countries can have it and listen to, but it’s limited to 20 hours of listening per month. As far as I know, you can listen to your local files unlimited times even with Spotify Open.

When you pay and get Spotify Premium, then you can have it on your mobile phone and in offline mode, which means that you can listen to songs even when it’s not connected to the internet and you can have it at a picnic (unless you bring your laptop to the picnic! 😛 ) !

Ratings and Personas

Some days ago (I don’t remember how many, maybe it was even a week) I put a flag counter on the right side, just out of curiosity of where people come from. 🙂

Just now I also put a ratings bar under each post, but I am not sure yet if it’s a good idea…. I am just afraid of posts being rated as “very poor” for example, and then my whatever-confidence I’d had for posting it would waver. Well but anyway, it shouldn’t be a big deal… Even if someone does it, it doesn’t mean something about my personality. Right? 😛

I also discovered these “Personas for Firefox”. I don’t think they are THAT great, but I am trying it for a bit to see how it works out. But at the moment I can’t see any url at the address bar, it’s white text on white background. 😛

Developing new things for Firefox is nice, but changing the image behind the tabs isn’t such a big deal. The whole skin should change I think, not just a thin strip of a background. (Oh, I just noticed that it’s a bit on the bottom as well).

Right now I would rate my own post as average. 😛 But it’s because I don’t have something to say at the moment. Twice I thought of something during the night and thought I should write it here, but now it eludes my memory.

One thing I like about people who keep their word… is that they say “let’s meet” and they actually call you to meet. They mean what they say, and so you know to take what they say seriously. Not like people who say and say, “we should go out sometime!” and then nothing. Or is it a ball game? Oh, you threw the first ball by suggesting it, and now the ball is in my field, and I have to actually call you? Well, when one suggests something, it means they want it. So, go out and get what you want. Don’t wait for the other person with the “ball in their field”. These games are most of the time ridiculous.

Medieval Torture Devices

There are no hello’s this time. No comments to be said, only facts to be read.

I was reading this article, of torturing devices in the medieval times.

I think half the time I was moaning and groaning from the atrocity. Of course I have heard of most of them before… But reading about them in detail, engaging yourself in the happenings and possibly placing yourself at those times… Or even trying to imagine how it could feel… Unimaginable. The Iron Maiden?! Mercy. 😦 Or the Pear Anguish or Breast Ripper? I had never heard of the latter one before. I wouldn’t call those torture devices. Torturing is to cause pain in order to extract information. Not to have the victim slowly die of excruciating pain and anguish. Those are fatal devices.

On a brighter note (article), here are 5 innovations that won the Edison award 🙂 The i-Limb Hand sounds remarkable… What science can do… Just like anything else, science can be used for miracles, and can be used for destruction and death. Just as a simple knife.

I believe I did quite well on my exam today! 😀 Woot!! Hopefully I am not too far off. 😛

I remembered “The Battle” from the Narnia soundtrack, and it’s really a beautiful song. So, I will end this with this musical note that ignites the imagination and sparks fire into souls !  Hats off to Harry Gregson-Williams! 😀

Hello, hello! 😉

Are you getting ready for Christmas? What will you do for Christmas Eve and Christmas? 🙂 What is the tradition in your country? Do you follow the country’s tradition, or do you create your own?

Woo, many questions today. xD 😛

Personally, I love Christmas time because of the happy feelings, the merry people anticipating the holidays, and the festive music and events everywhere. ^_^ A time to meet with your good friends and spend time with them… (And family of course). The whole year is a time to spend with friends and family, but during Christmas there is an excuse. xD ;P

Like the post says, knowledge shared is joy doubled, I will post a few things that I think are very interesting and I would like to share with you. 🙂

The holidays are almost here…!

Hello,

Tomorrow after noon my holidays will start! =D Woo!! The thing is, I have an exam in the morning and I have hardly prepared. Ach jaj… 😦 Somewhere at the back of my mind I am starting to panic, but I don’t know when it will surface. 😛

For Christmas I will make “melomakarona”! 😀 A traditional Greek sweet made during Christmas time. (Honey Cakes)

Once we tried to make them with my dad, but we totally didn’t see one ingredient, and you can imagine how they turned out! 😀

“But this mixture doesn’t look ready..”

“Let’s put more oil then…”

“Now it’s too watery…”

“Let’s add more flour then…”

Repeat this conversation now for at least 3 times, and this is the secret to ruin any recipe. xD We made them into little balls, but when we’d put them on the pan they would slide all around from all the oil!! 😀 And when they were baked, they became one united biscuit that was too heavy to eat from all the oil … Bleh. 😛 🙂

So I really hope they turn out this time! M. and I are invited to a pot-luck dinner for Christmas, and I would like to take these there for them to try, so they better be good!

Plus, I would like to try and make “kourabiedes“!!!!  😀 Yummyyy! *voice in head: fatteniiing!*

On Tuesday I have to make all these, because I won’t have time otherwise. Ufff ..! I hope I can relax a bit during “vacations”!

Change Blindness

Sniff, I feel so tired today. X_X Probably because I slept late eh? 😛 xD

I have been downloading Lost lately 😀 So far I only watched 6 episodes, but I like it a lot! 😀 Well, ok I had seen some random episodes in the past when it aired on TV, but oh well. I wish I could watch all day! 🙂 But I have other priorities at the moment.

I found this on Youtube on Change Blindness. It’s interesting! But nothing we hadn’t surmissed.

Very interesting… I would have noticed the change for sure! 🙂 It’s curious how many of them didn’t even notice the color change… But it’s true that many people don’t notice such details… So we can’t always expect them to. But it is very nice when a girl’s boyfriend notices the nice way she dresses for him, for example. Those efforts should be acknowledged. I think it’s a learned behavior, not an innate one. So we can all learn to notice things more, changes in nature and our surroundings. It could save us also from danger.

Before I go, something funny that 2nd grade children wrote about their mothers… 😀

After I told her about RSS and what it is, E. asked me yesterday to subscribe her by email so she can get my posts when they are published. =D

I will try to find also that feature then, for someone to be able to subscribe by email, not only with RSS. What is RSS

Before I do that though, for those of you who have Yahoo emails, it can be done manually in this way:

a) Go to Yahoo! Alerts

b) Create New Alert

c) In the URL, put this: https://drusillah.wordpress.com/feed/

d) Click on the “Receive by email” button underneath.

e) Done! =D

Then whenever I create a new post, you will receive it in your email. =) But you have to click on the title of the site to see the newest post, not the title of the post. I have a subscription like that, and it doesn’t work if you click on the title of the new post/page.
